Belgium: Tour of Oud Beersel

One of our stops on the Tour de Geuze. Oud Beersel is in Beersel (obviously) down the hill from 3 Fonteinen. Took the tour of the brewery which given was in Dutch. Then ate pork sandwiches that were marinated in gueuze and cooked on a spit. Check out the pig head. Nice.

Oud Beersel was founded by Henri Vandervelden in 1882. A little more on the history here on wikipedia. The building in their logo is the castle in Beersel.

That pig’s head is sure an appetizing table decoration! You would think it would turn some people off (from getting a sandwich). Were the sandwiches tasty enough to go back for?

I don’t like looking at the animal I’m about to eat, but was too hungry to care. The container of pig skin (what do they call that? cracklins?) on the other hand, that was disgusting. I saw some people taking pieces; I don’t want to know what they were doing with it.
