Christmas 2014

Posted by February 4, 2015

So it’s *cough* January 28 February 4 *cough* and I’m just getting around to the Christmas pics. Yeah, yeah. I know. Two weeks off work, a week in Texas, and I’ve been a busy little bee trying to get some things back on track. Like finishing projects before starting any new ones (sooo hard). And now, a few days since I first wrote that ↑,…

Merry Christmas!

So it’s like 10 days into the new year. So what. Here’s how we spent our holiday. Christmas Eve we made green cookies for Santa. (Nicholas’ idea. They look a little gross after baking.) And we sent the Elf back where he belongs. Santa brought silly string, so we had a fight before 7:30 a.m. Christmas morning. Guess who got bubble bath from Santa? And…

Our Elf has been here a little over a week. Is there less whining and bickering because he’s watching? Nope. Screw him. Here’s a tradition we need to adopt: the Krampus. Krampus is the anti-Santa from German folklore—a devil-like creature with horns and cloven feet. He drags rusty chains and carries birch branches and a burlap sack. He beats children with the branches. Then… Krampus…

Merry Christmas!

Christmas has come and gone. As has New Years. I only just put away the Christmas decorations last weekend, and am only now, mid-Jan, posting the Christmas photos. They’ve been sorted and tagged in Lightroom for much longer. Good thing I didn’t make a resolution not to half ass or to finish things or to post more like last year. I did, however, finally put…

Nicholas’s Christmas concert was last week. It was interesting. I went fully expecting to hear the kids belt out the standard “Frosty the Snowman,” Jingle Bells” etc. Instead they sang songs about Ramadan and Kwanzaa, and the Hanukkah song was not “Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel.” Weird huh? It is an international school and I do appreciate the inclusiveness. But no surprise Nicholas didn’t know the words…

Merry Christmas!

Hope you all had a merry Christmas! It’s after midnight here. Everyone is asleep in their beds. It’s quiet. It’s a mess; toys are everywhere. (What’s new, right?) The tree didn’t fall or lose all it’s needles. And Jacob actually slept in until 8 this morning. A Christmas miracle. He and Nicholas were so excited about Santa coming. It was probably the fastest they’ve ever…

Gingerbread house

Posted by December 25, 2011

On Friday we made a gingerbread house. A kit from IKEA. Unfortunately a lot of the pieces were broken so it had to be “glued” together. Our house has some obvious structural problems, but we had fun decorating it. And the kids had fun taking silly pictures with it. Jacob wanted to leave it for Santa to eat. Santa did not want to eat it….

Pictures with Santa

Posted by December 20, 2011

Some pics with the “fake” Santa from the Christmas party last week. Jacob has decided that all these other Santas are fake, so he always says, “you mean the fake Santa.” This one was German. One of the others was his school principal.

Merry Christmas

Posted by December 27, 2010

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas. We did. Jacob seemed to grasp the concept of Santa much more than last year, and Nicholas maybe had a little more fun playing with the toys than the boxes they came in. Not all the gifts I ordered made it here on time, or maybe they did. With all the snow we didn’t go to base Friday to…
